Legal Notes

ALN is delighted to share with you the November 2019 edition of Legal Notes, a publication that seeks to share insights into the salient legal and business issues in various African jurisdictions across different sectors.

This edition, themed ‘Regional Integration in Africa’, highlights some of the developments towards the advancement of intra-Africa trade, including a feature on the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which is currently the most ambitious achievement on the continent and is expected to create the world’s largest free trade area since the formation of the World Trade Organisation.

Our editorial feature article ‘The AfCFTA Dream: Opening Africa’s Borders for Business and Trade’ highlights insights from some of the continent’s leading lawyers on key issues related to trading across African borders.

In this edition, we have also included a wide collection of thought-leadership pieces from across the continent, including pieces on doing business in Ethiopia, the fintech sandbox in Kenya, insolvency in Morocco, the new employment laws in Zambia, structuring African investments through UAE holding companies and many more.

We hope you will find this edition an insightful reflection of the changes happening on the continent.
