A&K is delighted to announce that Willie Oelofse will be joining the firm as Director as of 6 June 2018. Willie is a veteran forensic investigator with more than 20 years of practical experience. Before joining A&K, Willie led Deloitte East Africa’s Forensics business, where he developed a strong forensic team with the capability to deliver services across the region. Before that, Willie spent 15 years as a member of KPMG Forensic, based in South Africa, Belgium and then East Africa where he built the forensics team to more than 30 dedicated members covering all areas of forensics assignments, including proactive and investigative forensic assignments. Willie commenced his career as a law enforcement officer in the South African Police Service and before joining KPMG served on the Eastern Cape Gambling and Betting Board where he was involved in licensing, criminal investigations and regulatory compliance.
The addition of Willie to the A&K team significantly strengthens A&K’s disputes, corporate investigations and compliance practices at a time of more stringent regulatory enforcement and increased combat against fraud, bribery, corruption, anticompetitive conduct and other crimes. With the addition of Willie and his team, A&K’s corporate investigations and compliance practice combines legal, accounting, economic, investigative and technology skill sets for an end-to-end solution for both private and public sector clients. We will be able to provide services at all stages of an investigation, including dawn raids, amnesty applications, compliance and defence strategy, negotiations with the authorities and damages assessment.
Our enhanced capabilities will allow us to better support local and international companies in helping them achieve the highest standards of transparency and integrity and to mitigate the risk of misconduct.
“We are very excited about Willie’s appointment in this fast-growing practice and look forward to being able to provide a holistic approach to clients in their efforts to mitigate risk and build transparent and compliant businesses in the region,” added Karim S. Anjarwalla, Managing Partner, A&K.
