MMAKS Advocates Welcomes New Head of Banking and Finance
MMAKS Advocates is delighted to announce the appointment of Gloria Matovu Kawooya as Partner and Head of the firm’s Banking and Finance practice.
Gloria has over ten years’ experience in legal practice and has handled corporate advisory, mergers and acquisitions and due diligences. She has also been in the banking industry where she worked as Country Legal Counsel and Assistant Company Secretary at Standard Chartered Bank, and has worked at Stanbic Bank Uganda. At Stanbic, she was the deputy Head of Legal and Manager Legal Corporate and Investment Banking. Her team at Stanbic was awarded the 2019 Uganda Law Society ‘Women in Law’ Award as the best In-House team.
Gloria was a Board member and Trustee of the Stanbic Bank Uganda Staff Pension Fund as well as a Board member of the Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda.
Gloria holds a Master of Laws degree in Global Business Law from the New York University School of Law, and a Masters of Laws degree in Corporate and Financial Services Law from the National University of Singapore.
