Over the last few years, the frequency and scale of tax disputes has increased significantly across the East African region. Revenue authorities have become more aggressive and the magnitude of tax assessments in terms of quantum and complexity is increasing by the day.
Anjarwalla & Khanna (A&K) in collaboration with ALN Academy and Pump Court Tax Chambers hosted business leaders and tax experts with many years of experience in dealing with tax authorities in the region at the Changing Tax Landscape – 2020 and Beyond seminar and Masterclass at ALN House, Nairobi. The lively discussions centred around the emerging tax trends, potential threats and mitigation strategies which leaders can adopt when navigating the increasingly evolving tax landscape across East Africa. Some insightful discussions were also generated as the forum deliberated on best practices that businesses in the region can adopt when working with revenue authorities, recent landmark tax decisions, as well as strategies that can be employed to mitigate today’s biggest tax risks.
