A&K lawyers and practices continue to be lead in Chambers’ 2018 edition

The Chambers Global 2018 directory has been released and Anjarwalla & Khanna has once again topped the Kenyan rankings. Notably, the firm’s traditionally strong practice areas have retained their Band 1 rankings in Commercial, Banking & Finance and Employment. Furthermore, in Chambers’ newly introduced Projects & Energy category for Kenya, A&K was the only firm ranked as Band 1 in Kenya.

Other practice areas were also recognised for their work, including our growing Dispute Resolution team, which continues to win high profile matters, including in the areas of corruption and anti-bribery investigations.

A&K has also moved up one position in the Africa-wide rankings for corporate work handled across several jurisdictions, and is currently the only African firm outside of South Africa to be ranked in this category.  A&K is described as having “’an impressive reputation in the region and an expansive reach across the continent supported by ALN, its network of allied law firms”.

Anjarwalla & Khanna also does a lot of work in Tanzania alongside ALN partner, ATZ Law Chambers. Sonal Sejpal is a recognised foreign expert in Banking & Finance in Tanzania and frequently leads cross-border deals. The ATZ team were also well ranked this year and retained their position as a Band 2 firm in General Business Law. The Tanzanian market is heating up with the entry of South African-led firms jostling for market share so this position is well earned.

Furthermore, Atiq Anjarwalla, Managing Partner of Anjarwalla Collins & Haidermota, ALN’s office in the UAE, is recognised in the Chambers’ UAE rankings for his Kenya expertise.

These annual rankings are based on extensive research by Chambers using in-depth interviews from clients, sector experts and even competitors. The researchers have a comprehensive view of the marketplace, a high commitment to reporting integrity and, most importantly, they play an impartial role in search of the most experienced lawyers across the various practice areas.
