2020: The Year in Review for ALN
As we start getting into our stride in 2021, we take a quick look back at 2020 and review the highlights and achievements of what was a rather difficult, but memorable year for ALN. It was a year that saw ALN and its member firms across the continent add coveted award feathers in their caps for their excellence, achievements, innovation and expertise in its pursuit of becoming the leading provider of integrated legal services to clients investing in or financing investments in Africa. Thank you to our valued clients, determined Partners and dedicated staff, without whom, ALN’s success would not be possible, even as we look forward to a more promising new year.
2020 was a year that saw, ALN bag the “Africa Legal Network of the Year” award at the inaugural IFLR Sub-Saharan Africa Awards 2020, which were announced virtually on 10 September, in recognition of its legal innovation in cross-border transactions. In addition to its list of achievements, member firms ALN Kenya | Anjarwalla & Khanna, ALN Mauritius | BLC Roberts & Associates, ALN Rwanda | K-Solutions & Partners and ALN Zambia | Musa Dudhia & Co. won the “Law Firm of the Year” award for their impressive track records in providing local law advice on the most innovative deals in their respective countries between May 2019 and May 2020.
At the Private Equity Awards in November, ALN Kenya and ALN Zambia were named as the “Local Legal Advisor of the Year” and “Frontier Legal Advisor of the Year” respectively, in affirmation of ALN’s capability as an alliance in providing excellent integrated legal services across the continent.
In Kenya, ALN Kenya closed the year in style as it scooped the “Large Law Firm of the Year” award at the Nairobi Legal Awards 2020, hosted by the Legal Society of Kenya Nairobi branch, in recognition of the firm’s outstanding standards of practice and legal service delivery.
“The ALN fraternity celebrates these great achievements which add further impetus to our commitment to uphold the highest standards, to integrate our service offerings and catalyse our efforts of becoming the leading provider of integrated legal services to clients investing in or financing investments in Africa,” says ALN Kenya Managing Partner Karim Anjarwalla.
These achievements are part of a “… journey which began 15 years ago in pursuit for integrating legal services across the continent through ALN. We are passionate about the idea of bringing rule of law and highest quality legal services to our continent – grown from Africa and going out to the world,” affirms Karim.
